School Calendars 2027 to 2028 and 2028 to 2029

As we publish the school calendars for the 2027 to 2028 and 2028 to 2029 academic years, we would like to highlight a number of changes that will take effect.

These changes have been introduced following careful consideration of attendance, wellbeing and learning data across our schools.

From August 2027:

• The last day of school before the Christmas and summer holidays will be a full school day for all pupils.
• The traditional May Day holiday will no longer form part of the school calendar.
• Pupils will benefit from a full week holiday during Term 3.

We know that Term 3 can be particularly long and demanding. Our evidence indicates that many pupils, especially younger learners, may benefit from a longer break at this point in the school year.

We hope this additional week will support wellbeing, engagement and successful learning throughout the remainder of the session.
